FirstLight has had an incredibly exciting year with unprecedented growth. That expansion continued today, as the leading fiber-optic bandwidth infrastructure services provider operating in the Northeast completed the next step in its integration process with Sovernet Communications (“Sovernet”) – rebranding Sovernet as FirstLight.
Both FirstLight and Sovernet have been serving the communications needs of Vermonters for more than 15 years and, now combined, FirstLight has expanded its network reach and enhanced its capabilities throughout the state of Vermont.
“We are happy to achieve this integration milestone of marketing our services under a single brand, FirstLight,” commented Kurt Van Wagenen, President and CEO of FirstLight. “This development will allow us to present a unified front to Vermont customers and offer consistent and clear messaging, which benefits our customers. While we are accelerating our growth and increasing our scale, both organically and through acquisitions, we remain a nimble organization dedicated to maintaining our local presence in the communities in which we serve.”
FirstLight operates a regional fiber network serving customers throughout the Northeast, connecting more than 5,000 locations with an additional 20,000 locations serviceable by its 9,600-route mile fiber network. The Company remains committed to continued investment in infrastructure throughout Vermont, as well as across its entire service territory.
“Now that Sovernet Communications, Oxford Networks and ION Communications are consolidated under the FirstLight brand, we have aligned as a strong organization with consistent values and a singular focus of continuing to provide our portfolio of high-quality infrastructure services and outstanding, locally-based support to an ever-growing customer base,” stated Maura Mahoney, Vice President of Marketing & Product Management of FirstLight.”
